Finally, the Sunny Deol starrer was locked to release on 4,800 screens across India, getting 17,000 shows per day.

How much is the Border 2 Advance Booking in India?

The Border 2 advance booking started in India in full swing in the morning of 19 January (Monday) on a promising note. But later, the momentum seemed to have dipped due to improper allotment of shows and screens. In the first 24 hours of its advance booking, Border 2, with this incomplete showcasing, sold 18,000 tickets across Indian national chains (PVR Inox and Cinepolis) for its Day 1, with 3 days remaining before its release, a lower total than War 2 in the same time frame.

With 2 days left before release, Border 2 (2026) movie sold 37,000 tickets across Indian national chains, performing below the advance bookings of War 2, Dhurandhar, and Fighter. However, the numbers continue to look underwhelming in the Border 2 advance booking report, as 5,000 shows for any big release in PIC is a necessity, leaving the war drama in a bit of a disappointing situation.

With 1 day to go before the Border 2 advance ticket sales for opening day end, the film has sold tickets worth Rs 10 crore nett. This total is expected to reach Rs 12-13 crore nett with 150K tickets sold across Indian national chains, which is a good number but seems disappointing because it is much less than Gadar 2.

A major reason these bookings look low is the obvious comparison with Border 2 and Gadar 2. This comparison cannot be called entirely fair, as Gadar had a much better reputation and value among the masses than Border. 

What makes Gadar 2’s performance feel an extra bit bigger than the blockbuster it already is is its success despite a clash with OMG 2. Additionally, Gadar 2’s pre-release assets were disappointing, while Border 2’s assets received better acceptance. In a case where Gadar 2 had not existed, and Sunny Deol was making his comeback roaring on-screen with Border 2, the same advances as now would have been accepted well.

The Border 2 budget was earlier estimated to be a massive cost of Rs 300 crore. However, this budget later saw a slight increase due to rework on the film’s heavily criticized VFX after the teaser.

What is the Border 2 Advance Booking Report for Overseas?

The Border 2 pre sale ticket booking began overseas 10 days earlier in several markets and 6 days earlier in key markets. Across these territories, Sunny Deol’s Border 2 is showing a better trend in its advance booking than Gadar 2 and Jaat. In Australia and Canada, the advance booking trend for Border 2 is much better due to Diljit Dosanjh’s presence. 

In Australia, the war drama is set to open with a gross of A$175K+, which would be much higher than that of Gadar 2 (A$75K) and Jaat (A$25K).

In the USA, the Border 2 ticket price in advance booking resulted in a gross of $75K, which is a decent figure for the movie, only if seen by the interested audience in that territory as a Sunny Deol starrer. As for Canada, the film has sold 1,000+ tickets nationwide, driven by Diljit’s face value.

As for the Gulf and UAE market, the film was banned in those territories for reasons obvious from its content. In the UK, Border 2 has sold 500+ tickets, which is a moderate sum. Across all the overseas territories, the Border 2 advance booking is not dependent on the film’s franchise value. 

Overseas is not very important for the film because, as expected, the business will be low, but a few regions are surprising in their opening trend. However, the content needs to obviously click with the overseas audience because if it is good, then Border 2 will perform well everywhere.

What is Driving the Border 2 Advance Booking?

As was expected from the film, Border 2’s hype in India is riding entirely on the franchise value as well as Sunny Deol’s own value, which includes elements like his dialogue delivery, roaring, screaming, and fighting on-screen, all of which are a part of his performance that result in his massive pull among the masses. The same pull will help attract audiences on 23rd January and even more of them till 26th January.

Just like Gadar 2, Border 2 is also not a film that appeals much to the international audience. Hence, while one Punjabi carries the film across India, another one makes it fly internationally. Another Punjabi here is Diljit Dosanjh. 

As for Varun Dhawan, he has no significant pull with the Border 2 cast and release date, and is rather a factor behind the audience being repelled by the film. Meanwhile, nothing can be said about Ahan Shetty, as he seems to be just existing in the movie, judging by his assets, offering little to talk about.

The Border 2 first day advance booking report indicates that the war drama is set to open in the range of more than Rs 35 crore India nett. A lot depends on the spot bookings, as there is no clash and it releases on 23rd January, which is a holiday in a few Indian states. 

How many spot bookings it attracts further depends on the fate of this Sunny Deol starrer. As the film is already benefiting from no major competition ahead at the box office, positive reviews can help it achieve a great and successful verdict.
