The Taj Story (2025) has been released in India on 31st October 2025 in approximately 500 screens, which is a very small number. The film has very limited shows, with most cities having no shows at all. What Works in The Taj Story?

What works is the gripping narrative. The audience waits for events to unfold as it leads them closer to the case findings, but since this has been inspired by true events, most people know that the court has not passed any judgement on this issue, and the same has been shown in the film. A few arguments seem valid where the education system is questioned and few where the neutrality is compromised, which was promised by The Taj Story Official Trailer. While the drama is cliché, it works.

In Paresh Rawal’s The Taj Story movie, there are a few predictable twists in between, which are mere fillers. The film is well-researched, as most of the arguments seem valid with genuine loopholes and a lot of the imposed stuff that has been unaddressed.

What is the Taj Story Plot About?

The Taj Story trailer, as well as the film, shows that the film revolves around Vishnu Das (Paresh Rawal), who has been working as a tour guide for over 25 years. He has been shown as this honest man who does not take extra money and charges only what’s right. Vishu Das contests for the presidential post of the Taj Mahal Guide Association and gets support for the same.

Later, he gets interviewed by a documentary maker and rediscovers his father Manoj Das’ unfulfilled wish of identifying the Taj Mahal as a Mahal that was not established by Mughal ruler Shah Jahan but was an original creation of a Hindu king.

The film then goes on to how the family faces backlash and threats from powerful people. Later, the film gets into court arguments with some intense moments and findings, and then comes the finale, after which various conclusions cited by various publications are shown.

What Does Not Work in The Taj Story?

The court arguments are sharp and intense but only in parts, as the forced comedy ruins the essence. If those funny dialogues were not offensive or were in limited form, then they would’ve been enjoyable. The past shown with the help of AI is a huge blunder and takes away the authenticity. The makers should have instead used original paintings or some other visuals to describe the past.

The background music and the dialogues do not amplify or elevate the impact of the scenes, which is also a letdown. A few scenes also feel unnecessary and dragged, which gives the film a monotonous feel. The film should’ve also covered the backstory of Vishnu Das in the film, as it has been shown that just a drinking session and a small conversation with the documentary filmmaker made him go against something that has been employing his family for decades.

The courtroom scenes require impactful exchanges of dialogues by the Taj Story film cast, but here, the powerful impact is missing because of too much forced comedy. The role of the main guy who opposes this take of Vishu is also not defended well. He seems like a random opponent without a very strong reason to condemn Vishu’s actions.

There is also no clarity as to who is bearing the costs or the lawyer expenses. The research work done by both the parties has also not been shown, which reduces the gripping narrative.
