Vanga Versus Deepika: Spirit upcoming movie controversy Detailed Report

Netizens deciphered that Vanga is referring to Deepika Padukone, who was earlier supposed to be a part of this Prabhas New Movie Release currently in pre-production. Such controversies are often seen in the film industry but this time, it has been making headlines everywhere due to the presence of big names. Sandeep Reddy Vanga, despite going less films, is touted as one of India’s top most directors currently mainly because all his films are BLOCKBUSTERS and every film of his is loaded with CHARTBUSTERS. On the other hand there is Deepika Padukone who has been a part of big blockbusters namely Jawan, Pathaan, Kalki 2898 AD etc.

What is the whole thing about Spirit Controversy?

On 26th May 2025, Pinkvilla reported that Spirit new movie will be an A rated film, loaded with bold scenes. Few other details were also revealed in the article which only this actor knew, claimed Vanga. And through his tweet, Vanga claims that this actor has used her PR, to circulate the article to others. That’s what Pinkvilla Exclusives are about, circulating PR stuff. This has been proven time and again. 

Why is that article a problem?

While the article covered more details on the Spirit preview, much of what one would already expect from a Sandeep Reddy Vanga film, the focus was on Deepika Padukone leaving Spirit due to bold scenes. Additionally, the article focused very clearly on Triptii Dimri happily accepting those bold scenes. This is simply an act of bringing down the newcomer while showing that Prabhas and Triptii are good to go with the scenes while Deepika had a problem. 

In the past, several other sources claimed that Deepika had been removed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga due to unrealistic demands like higher pay, lesser work hours, speaking the dialogues only in Hindi etc.

Vanga, through his tweet claims that the female actress, despite an NDA signed, disclosed these details to her PR so that they can use tools like Pinkvilla to spread hatred against Triptii and the film, only because she came as the replacement to Deepika.

Who is Right? The PR Hypocrisy revealed 

Our readers must be thinking that it is our ‘assumption’ that the Animal Director is correct and others are wrong, well, we will produce some more evidence; and then you may decide.

Deepika Padukone, when finalised for the Prabhas starrer Spirit, had pushed a narrative using Pinkvilla on 2nd May 2025. Pinkvilla again used the ‘Exclusive’ garb just to circulate the PR piece that Deepika has got another big film. Now, the hypocrisy lies in the fact that on 2nd May, Pinkvilla called the role the best part about the film and used elegant lines. Please note that these lines did not have bold, adult etc. These lines were added in the 26th May article, when Vanga removed Deepika from the film due to unrealistic demands. The unrealistic demands include 8-hour shoot days (effectively 6 hours), not speaking Telugu, a huge 30–40 crore fee and profit share. The A rated, bold, adult lines were added when Deepika Padukone was out from the film and Triptii was signed. 

The portal hit a new low by saying that Deepika wasn’t comfortable but Prabhas and Triptii happily agreed. Such pathetic lines put Bollywood journalism in the bad light. The author and the portal should be more sensitive in circulating PR stuff. The lines turned dirty from elegant when a different actor steps in. 

The Final Take

Inside Box Office does not support dragging actors in the name of journalism and hence has only presented points from a neutral angle. It is on you to decide who is right and who is wrong or who is less wrong.

Deepika Padukone lost a big film due to this while we are not taking away the merits of Tritpii Dimri but it is true that the Box Office collections and the bankability relies heavily on Prabhas and Vanga as they are much bigger names with Prabhas being a top tier star on all India level.

As of now, the Spirit release date is not confirmed as the film is yet to step into filming. The immediate next movie of Prabhas is The Raja Saab which is set to release later this year. As per his schedule, Spirit would occupy a release date of late 2026 or early 2027.
