Metro In Dino Day Wise Detailed Box Office Collection | India and Overseas

After a lot of time, the Hindi film industry has brought to the audience a new musical romantic drama film, Metro In Dino. It is the sequel of Life In Metro (2007), is directed by Anurag Basu, and features a brand new multistarrer cast. This film stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, and Saswata Chatterjee.

The film was released on 4 July 2025 while it was standing on a very low stage of hype, even though it is a spiritual sequel of a very popular film. A purely romantic drama film with no commercial elements for the masses barely gets any traction on its opening day, Metro In Dino became an example of this scenario. 

Besides its genre, there are several other things where the film failed to excite the audience with the first one being the cast. While the cast had several known faces like Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Ali Fazal, the majority audience doesn’t think they can do justice to the likes of Kay Kay Menon and Irrfan Khan.

Life In A Metro is remembered more for its songs rather than its story or plot and that explains the level its music had reached over the years.

As for the box office expectations, Metro In Dino is not expected to open very big. The film lacks the presence of any big star with a considerable box office pull. Additionally, no other factor like the songs, trailer, etc have helped the film build pre-release hype as previously explained. By now, we know that the legacy of Life In A Metro is not doing much good for this sequel. 

The full-fledged Metro In Dino advance booking began on July 2, only two days before its release. For a film with such low hype, these two days definitely didn’t help for a big opening. Metro In Dino sold 18,500 tickets in Indian national chains (PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis) in its pre-sales. It is currently also competing against films like Sitaare Zameen Par and Maa which are also performing at a very small level. Additionally, it clashed at the box office with the Hollywood Jurassic World: Rebirth. 

Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino is made at a budget of Rs 100 crore approx. Keeping in mind the Metro in dino advance booking updates and the present condition of the film, only a highly positive word-of-mouth could have helped it perform well at the box office. However, that boat has sailed too as the film has received majorly mixed reviews.

As of the opening day, Metro In Dino day 1 collection stood at Rs 3.25 crore India nett. This is a highly disappointing opening figure for the opening of the film. As the Metro In Dino reviews from the public and the critics show a highly mixed response, it is expected that the film will perform only in its opening weekend. Later, its daily performance will have the film falling towards not so good results.
