As can be seen from the early reaction of the film to our Instagram post in the form of likes and comments back in April 2025, the film carried a huge hype due to the legacy of the hit prequel and its memorable songs. However, things seem to have gone horribly wrong from the production’s side which destroyed this excitement. In fact, the same has been the case with every recent sequel that has failed in the near past. A sequel always carries initial hype from the audience before the makers blow that excitement into small fragments by dropping consecutively disappointing assets.

The Haunted 3D sequel release date has been very uncertain and is currently locked as June 12, 2026, making it clash with Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga. This release date was announced with a motion poster that was released on March 20, 2026. Along with the new release date, a change in its title from Haunted 3D: Ghosts of the Past to Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past was announced.

It will release a week before Shahid Kapoor’s Cocktail 2. Originally, the film was scheduled to hit the theaters on September 26, 2025, with the teaser confirmed by lead actor Mimoh Chakraborty/Mahaakshay Chakraborty in April 2025 itself. However, the teaser got delayed by around 3 months, and its quality reveals why it was delayed.

Through the teaser, the makers of the movie confirmed its release date of 21 November 2025 but after huge criticism, it got delayed for the second time to February 6, 2026.

The Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past cast features Mahaakshay Chakraborty in the lead, coming after Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, alongside Chetna Pande, Shruti Prakash, Gaurav Bajpai, Praneet Bhatt, and Hemant Pandey in the lead. The Haunted 3D upcoming movie cast brings back only Mahaakshay Chakraborty from the prequel’s stars.

What is the Public Response to the Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past Music Album?

The Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past music album was officially released on May 20, 2026. It consisted of nine different haunting and romantic songs sung, composed, and written by different artists. 

In a Vikram Bhatt film, the songs tend to be an element of excitement as they turn out to be a great listen in majority of the cases, no matter how good or bad the film is. As for Haunted 3D 2’s songs, all of them gained appreciation from the very small audience they reached. However, they failed to penetrate into the playlists or music recommendations of the mainstream audience.

According to Inside Box Office’s Haunted 3D 2 song album review, all the melodies were good and moderately stood upto expectations. The best songs out of this album were Raaz Hai sung by Palak Muchhal and Dard sung by Jubin Nautiyal. If they could have reached a wider audience, then awareness for this sequel would have surely gone much higher.

What To Expect From Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past Box Office Collection?

Even though Haunted 3D was a box office hit, the same fate did not seemed to be approaching Haunted 3D 2, and the reason behind it was simple. The cast of the movie, the director, and now its first impression on the audience, none of these factors are in a position to uplift the film’s hype but rather make it drop.

However, this horror thriller still surprised the audience and trade by collecting Rs 2.25 crore nett at the Indian box office despite poor assets, negative reviews, and while releasing in a clash with many other films like Main Vaapas Aaunga, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, Governor, Disclosure Day, and Backrooms. Its Day 1 collection in 2026 was the same as its prequel released in 2011. However, due to the below par assets from the film, this opening did seem fair for the movie.

Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past is made on a budget of Rs 35 crore, and even though you can only hope that the team works on improving the CGI, the hopes can clearly not come true with such a low budget. Keeping all these factors in consideration, a failure for Haunted 2 in its current position seems more possible than a success.
