For Malavika Mohanan, the film marks her Telugu debut, while Sanjay Dutt, of course, plays the leading antagonist once again. The Raja Saab release date is 9 January 2026, making the film land near Pongal. Earlier, the film was supposed to clash with Dhurandhar, but the makers postponed it to give its CGI a bit more time. With the postponement, the film was later set to clash with Thalapathy Vijay’s much-hyped Jana Nayagan, which was postponed 2 days before its release due to delays in certification by CBFC.  

The director of The Raja Saab is Maruthi, not a very well-known director nationwide and not among the top names in the Telugu industry either. The Raja Saab is the director’s first mega-scale project, after which he had a long experience directing low-budget rom-coms, none of which starred a name as big as Prabhas. Additionally, his last movie before The Raja Saab, titled Pakka Commercial, was a disaster. Such a record made him a factor that doesn’t raise the hype for the movie, even among Prabhas fans, but rather lowers it.

As for the film’s pre-release assets, like the teaser, trailer, or songs, all of them turned out to be heavy disappointments, each worse than the other, indicating a poor The Raja Saab review for the audience. At the end, its overseas advance booking collection was $2.25M (Rs 20.25 crore), a disappointing total.

These figures also include the collection that came through block bookings, yet it stands as an appreciable figure. The Raja Saab’s India gross saw the highest contribution from its home market, Andhra Pradesh / Telangana, as the two states combined gave the film a total of Rs 58.85 crore.

As of the worldwide box office, The Raja Saab became the sixth Rs 100 crore club opener of Prabhas’ career by grossing Rs 100.15 crore, which includes Rs 24 crore gross from overseas markets.
