In Tollywood, an action movie led by a superstar is seen as nothing less than a major event of the year. After Pushpa 2 in December 2024, the latest Tollywood movie which stands as one of the most hyped products of its industry is They Call Him OG or OG, a crime action film led by Pawan Kalyan who makes his comeback after the failure of Hari Hara Veera Mallu.

The OG movie cast includes Pawan Kalyan in the lead along with Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das, and Prakash Raj. The film is directed by Sujeeth, marking the 3rd venture of the director’s career who makes a comeback over 6 years after the failure of Saaho.

The full-fledged They Call Him OG Advance Booking Collection began on September 22 in South Indian markets like Nizam and Andhra Pradesh, 3 days before its release. The advance booking for its Day 1 reflected a huge hype for this movie, one of the best not just for Pawan Kalyan but for the whole Tollywood.

As for OG Advance Booking report for Day 1, the total pre-sales ended with tickets worth Rs 39cr sold along with advance booking gross for the premieres standing at Rs 20cr, totaling for Rs 59cr of advances in India.

In overseas, it sold tickets worth Rs 31cr+ during its pre-sales and showed the best results, higher than Pawan Kalyan’s previous movie Hari Hara Veera Mallu. The film faced major screening issues in Canada and Europe but still showed good pre-sales at the latter along with North America.

In Gulf, the film grossed $100K during its advance booking in the first 48 hours of its pre-sales. In Australia, the film sold tickets worth $300K during its advance booking. At the same time, the film will be showing poor Day 1 results in Singapore and Malaysia.

Among the Telugu audience, Pawan Kalyan has arguably the largest fanbase. Thanks to the same fanbase, the advance booking gross of They Call Him OG crossed the Rs 100cr mark worldwide gross. This became the first Rs 100cr opener of Pawan Kalyan’s career while being the second such grosser of director Sujeeth, putting him on the same stage as S.S. Rajamouli, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Prashanth Neel.

The massive pre-release hype for They Call Him OG was perfectly reflected at the box offce from the film’s opening day box office collection. The film took an opening of Rs 92.34cr in India gross out of which it collected Rs 79cr from Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Rs 9.50cr from Karnataka, Rs 1.75cr from Tamil Nadu, Rs 9 lacs from Kerala, and Rs 2cr from the rest of India. At the overseas box office, They Call Him OG grossed $4.80M (Rs 42.50cr). The Pawan Kalyan starrer became the highest opening day grosser of 2025 in India as well as the second-highest opening Indian movie at the worldwide box office in 2025 behind Coolie with a Day 1 worldwide gross of Rs 134.84cr.
