What is the Jatadhara Plot About?

Shiva (Sudheer Babu) works as a ghostbuster who believes that ghosts do not exist and shows the same at every supposedly haunted house he visits. Meanwhile, his girlfriend, Sithara (Divya Khosla Kumar), is an archeologist who tries to change his beliefs.

Sudheer starts having strange visions every night in his dreams, after which he witnesses several incidents that could have led to his death, but eventually he is safe. 

While focusing on these strange visions of his, Shiva arrives at Rudraram village, where a series of incidents make him learn about Dhanapisachini (Sonakshi Sinha) and why she must be stopped.

What Does Not Work in Jatadhara?

Nearly every single effort you can think of involved in the process of filmmaking has gone wrong for Jatadhara (2025). In case of any doubt, this belief would be only strengthened as the movie goes on. While a lot could have been achieved with this plot, the combined disappointment from literally the whole cast and crew makes sure that nothing is accomplished. 

The blend of horror, mythology, and thrills in Sudheer Babu’s Jatadhara movie does not work to hold the interest of the audience anywhere in the narrative. It is poorly written when it comes to its story, screenplay, and dialogues, and even poorly executed, with one illogical plot point leading to another at several moments.

The first half of the Jatadhara film consists of awful performances, low-budget special effects, an unnecessary item song, and a useless romantic subplot with a female love interest who barely serves any purpose to the story. However, it does end with a suspenseful interval block with a curiosity of “When will this film end?” continuously surrounding you. The disappointment continues with the entry of Sonakshi Sinha and her cringy performance. 

The second half explores Dhanapisaachi’s character through a long and tiring flashback sequence. Some emotional drama arising from the flashback as Shiva learns the history of his parents was needed, but the makers failed to fulfill that need and jumped into completing the story. 

The climax disappoints further and suffers from poor BGM, as even mythological elements fail to evoke any excitement.

No actor in the Jatadhara film cast, whether it be Sudheer Babu, Sonakshi Sinha, Divya Khosla Kumar, Shilpa Shirodkar, Ravi Prakash, Indira Krishnan, etc., shows any effort in their performance. All that you can think about while watching the cast is that they wish to leave the sets of the film as quickly as possible. 

What Works in Jatadhara?

As you can already guess after reading the earlier section, nothing works in Jatadhara. When the storyline, even from the Jatadhara trailer, is seen as a single-paragraph concept, it makes you feel interested in the movie. However, every move by the team feels like something done to eliminate that interest from existence. 

How is the Music of Jatadhara?

The lack of bearable music and watchable special effects is visible throughout the run time. The music album consists of three songs: Soul of Jatadhara, Dhana Pisaachi, and Pallo Latke Again. 

The first one can be considered something to listen to, but Dhana Pisaachi sung by Madhubanti Bagchi? Certainly not. The Pallo Latke Again is a zero-effort remix, directly copied from the initial chartbuster remix from Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana and thrown into Jatadhara.

Final Take on Jatadhara

As for the overall Jatadhara Review, it is not just one of the worst South Indian movies of the year but of the whole of India. Even when you find out Jatadhara movie where to watch on OTT, the lack of effort in the making of Jatadhara clearly proves that the film does not deserve your efforts of purchasing tickets and suffering it for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
