Tu Yaa Main Plot
Avani Shah (Shanaya Kapoor) is a social media influencer who goes by the username of Miss Vanity and has 2.3 million followers. Meanwhile, Maruti Kadam (Adarsh Gourav) is a small rapper from Nalasopara, with the handle Ala Flowpara and nearly 20,000 followers. Both protagonists come from different social classes but fall in love.
Maruti pursues her for a social media collaboration, which Avani agrees to, even after her sister Tara (Amrutha Srinivasan), brother-in-law Vikram (Rajat Kaul), and her manager Layla (Parul Gulati) suggest she reject it. During their new relationship, the couple goes for a bike ride to Goa, where, on the way, their bike breaks down. The lovers decide to visit a scuba diving centre in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, where, after a series of events, they find themselves stuck in the swimming pool in the abandoned, remote place. Further, things worsen when the two are attacked by a crocodile in a deep, empty swimming pool.

Tu Yaa Main First Half: An Actual Great Survival Thriller?
Tu Yaa Main movie begins on a promising feel-good note as it introduces the polar-apart world of the two characters, a broke but aspiring rapper and a rich social media influencer, with a good balance between both. This introduction moves on with a good story that connects the worlds of the two successfully.
After a point in the first half, the narrative slows to indulge the audience in what leads to the two characters escaping a crocodile, which is the film’s USP and probably the only thing that has attracted you to Tu Yaa Main in Cinemas 2026. Despite the slow narrative, the screenplay remains gripping.
However, this pace is interrupted a bit by some ignorable but abrupt sequences that feel unnecessary, as you can’t tell clearly whether they are flashbacks, the present, the future, or just dream sequences. What makes them ignorable is that the movie remains entertaining even with the inclusion of such scenes in the first half.

Tu Yaa Main Second Half: So Good That You Can’t See The Flaws
In the second half, Tu Yaa Main new film goes downhill as the director and writers seem to have taken a lot of cinematic liberty to keep the film going somehow. Additionally, this is also the half where the visuals ruin your experience and make you wish that you could only hear the film with your eyes closed. However, these things only hamper your experience near the ending, before which it tends to stay as good as the first half.
What harms the film further, along with the visuals, is the poor writing deviating from its path every once in a while, and majorly in the pre-climax and climax, which affects your overall experience of the film. Besides, barely any work has been done on the crocodile by the writers, too, as its mannerisms somehow make it attack others around the protagonists and not them directly, a typical but ironically non-human Bollywood villain.
The Good Enough Performances
In the Tu Yaa Main cast, Adarsh Gourav is easily the best performer out of the few notable names. His acting keeps the character of Maruti away from the line of a typical low-class high-dreams protagonist. Meanwhile, Shanaya Kapoor is just average and needed a better prep for a film whose major part depends on her portrayal of emotions. At the same time, she fits perfectly into the character of a rich influencer enjoying the luxuries of her life when she gets the screen time for it.
A Commendable Story
Such a story, as you may have already deciphered from the teaser or the Tu Yaa Main official trailer, does not feel practical. However, the writer Himanshu Sharma deserves a compliment to make it believable by explaining the backstory of the location rather than just keeping things straightforward and moving. What adds to this story is the ample number of thrills needed to keep the audience awake throughout the Tu Yaa Main duration.
When Logic Drowned in the Movie
For a good time during your Tu Yaa Main showtimes, the movie does make you feel that buying a ticket for this film is the best decision you have made this month. However, these feelings go down the drain as the writers decide to let the logic drown and bring up anything to keep the film running, which instead ruins your viewing experience in total.
Spoiler Alert – A few examples of these illogical shots can be seen when the mobile phone of a poor caretaker of a ruined site, not a billionaire, drowns in water for a long time, but starts functioning normally right after being taken out. As for another one, Avani is shown to love dogs, but the moment the crocodile eats her dog, the first thing she does is fix her hair in the pool and then start crying.
Though it is the wish of nearly every actor to look good every time they are on-screen, their looks should not butcher the logic of the scene. However, it may feel like something very minute to notice, their clear visibility highlights the mistakes by director Bejoy Nambiar, which could have been tweaked out easily.
Hit and Miss Work on Technical Aspects
Most of the second half is ruined by poor VFX and CGI, which specifically attack the pool and the crocodile. Even though the film is good, the work done on these technical aspects not just hampers the viewing experience but completely ruins it. Think about it genuinely, how can a film impress you with poor CGI when it boasts of a crocodile made of CGI as its main antagonist?
To avoid this abomination of visual effects to such an extent, the unnecessary scenes of the run time should have been cut out to not make the worst aspect of the film even worse, especially when you do not have the budget to excel with your desires.
Among other parts of the visual or technical aspects of the film is its cinematography, which is very pleasing to the eyes and fitting to the feel of the movie too, in most parts. The BGM of the film adds to the thrilling mood of Tu Yaa Main and helps maintain its grip.
The Music Deserves to be Loved
When we talk about the music of Tu Yaa Main, the remix songs, as well as original ones, fit the peppy vibe of the film and are also catchy. Specifically among the old songs used in different moments, Tum Hi Hamari Ho Manzil fits the mood of the scene in the best way. Out of the complete album, the best songs of the film are Fame Us and Aankhein Chaar.
Final Verdict
As of the overall Tu Yaa Main review, it is a film that is definitely a thriller that you can watch in hopes of a good use of your time and money. Even though it feels stretched at places, it is never something that bores you till the oblivion of your sleep, but rather keeps you engaged.
