What to Expect From Gabru (2026)?

Gabru (2026) is the next movie of Sunny Deol after Border 2, and the two are very different in subject. It was a multistarrer led by Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, made on a budget of Rs 300 crore and grossed Rs 441 crore worldwide. 

After Border 2, Sunny Deol’s Gabru is about a middle-aged family man and a struggling child artist, both suffering in their own lives yet with a strong bond between them.

The film’s basic plotline, already known, indicates that it will showcase more of Sunny Deol, the actor, in dramatic scenes than Sunny Deol, the action hero, something not seen for a long time.

What is the Gabru Release Date?

The Gabru release date was previously announced for March 13, 2026. However, releasing on this date would have put the film up against Dhurandhar: The Revenge at the box office, which was releasing soon after on March 19, 2026. To avoid this clash, Gabru was pushed ahead and will now release on May 8, 2026.

Who is in the Gabru Cast?

The Gabru cast includes Sunny Deol, Prit Kamani, Simran Bagga, and Darshan Jariwala in the lead, with Salman Khan in a cameo. In this cast, Sunny Deol is the only leading face known well to the audience, along with Salman Khan, who will be seen in a cameo. Interestingly, the last time Salman Khan made a cameo in a Sunny Deol movie was Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se, which featured the popular on-screen trio of Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Dharmendra in the lead.

What is the Gabru Teaser Release Date?

Sunny Deol posted a story on his official Instagram account on February 26, 2026, in which he said the teaser would be released very soon. While the exact Gabru teaser release date is not revealed, it is expected in April 2026.

The exact Gabru trailer release date is not revealed yet. As per what we expect, the trailer will be released very close to the Gabru film release date, which is May 8, 2026. Hence, the trailer will be released in the final week of April or very early in May.

The Gabru movie budget is Rs 50 crore. Gabru was the first movie Sunny Deol had signed after the huge success of Gadar 2. At that time, the film was titled Safar. Sunny Deol started shooting for this film in late 2023, more appropriately near the start of December 2023, 2.5 years before its release date. 

The film was shot across Mumbai, Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Manali. Salman Khan shot for his cameo in Safar on January 12, 2024, and January 13, 2024, at Mehboob Studios.

Sunny Deol’s new film Gabru was initially expected to have a direct-to-digital release in 2024, but the development of the film was halted due to reasons unknown. Later, it was officially announced by Sunny Deol, Gabru director Shashank Udapurkar, producers, and the rest of the team that the film will release theatrically with its new title on October 19, 2025. In this announcement made on October 19, 2025, its release date was announced to be March 2026. However, the release date was later pushed to May 8, 2026.
