A hidden treasure, a race filled with greedy characters, and one chaotic adventure set the stage for Dhamaal 4 (2026). Directed by Indra Kumar, the fourth chapter of the popular comedy franchise brings back its signature treasure hunt with a bigger scale, familiar faces, and plenty of slapstick moments. However, Ajay Devgn starrer Dhamaal 4 opens to mixed reviews, as the excitement of the setup slowly gives way to repetitive humour and an overlong screenplay. If the Dhamaal 4 teaser and Dhamaal 4 official trailer promised a laughter riot, the final film delivers only a handful of genuinely funny moments before losing momentum.
For moviegoers planning their weekend, this review of Dhamaal 4 film looks at what works, what doesn’t, and whether this latest adventure is worth a theatre visit.

What is the story behind Dhamaal 4?
The story revolves around Guddu, played by Ajay Devgn, who discovers that Prithvi knows the location of a priceless treasure hidden by the pirate Shaitaan Singh. Before the secret can be revealed, another pirate named Adhoora enters the picture, turning the search into a race between several greedy groups.
Soon, Guddu, Johnny, Adi, Manav, Lallan, and their companions begin chasing the same treasure. Every route leads to another obstacle, whether it is wild animals, cliffs, storms or comic misunderstandings. The film keeps moving from one set piece to another while trying to balance adventure with slapstick humour.
It is among the few moments where the humour lands naturally. Unfortunately, many of the remaining jokes feel stretched or repeated.
Story highlights :Â
- Hidden treasure drives the entire narrative.
- Multiple groups compete for one destination.
- Adventure remains larger than the emotional depth.
- Comedy relies heavily on situations.
Who Brings The Chaos To Life In Dhamaal 4?
The Dhamaal 4 cast brings together familiar faces along with a few new additions. Ajay Devgn returns as Guddu, while Arshad Warsi and Jaaved Jaaferi continue their much-loved chemistry as Adi and Manav. Riteish Deshmukh once again plays the loud and greedy Lallan, supported by Sanjay Mishra, Ravi Kishan, Upendra Limaye, Esha Gupta, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Anjali Anand and Vijay Patkar.
Among the performances, Arshad Warsi and Jaaved Jaaferi generate the most genuine laughs during the first half. Sanjay Mishra’s comic timing works in several scenes despite limited material. Ravi Kishan doesn’t add much energy. Ajay Devgn remains dependable, although the screenplay rarely gives him memorable moments.
Performance Highlights :
- Arshad Warsi delivers the strongest comic timing.
- Jaaved Jaaferi remains naturally entertaining.
- Ravi Kishan’s pirate character is irritating to watch amid the monotony
- Sanjay Mishra rescues several ordinary scenes, but his dialogues, like bro-bro, are hurtful to the ears
- Ajay Devgn performs sincerely despite the limited writing.
- Anjali Anand performs confidently despite being an underwritten character.
What works and what doesn’t?
Not everything in Dhamaal 4 (2026) disappoints. The film still offers a colourful adventure suitable for audiences looking for light entertainment. The large-scale locations, treasure-hunt concept and occasional nostalgic references remind viewers why the franchise became popular. At the same time, several creative choices stop the comedy from reaching the level expected from a Dhamaal film.
What Works | What Doesn’t Work |
Energetic ensemble performances | Weak screenplay |
Adventure-based treasure hunt | Repetitive jokes |
A few funny first-half scenes | Flat dialogues |
Family-friendly comedy | Overlong scenes |
Decent production scale | Poor AI visuals and uneven CGI |
Nostalgic franchise moments | Predictable storytelling |
The biggest issue is that many of the funniest moments already appeared in the Dhamaal 4 trailer, leaving very few pleasant surprises inside the film itself. The comedy often depends on body-shaming jokes, repeated slapstick and stretched sequences that lose impact before reaching their punchline.
As the adventure moves closer to the treasure, the humour becomes increasingly loud instead of genuinely funny. The film asks audiences to ignore logic, but that approach only works when the laughs consistently land. Unfortunately, that rarely happens here.
Does Nostalgia Save Dhamaal 4? Not This Time
One of the biggest expectations from Dhamaal 4 (2026) was the return of the madness that made the earlier films memorable. Familiar characters, repeated callbacks and self-references certainly bring back old memories, but nostalgia alone cannot carry a film. Several scenes remind viewers of previous installments instead of creating fresh comic situations. The screenplay spends too much time revisiting familiar ideas, making many sequences predictable.
Technically, the film presents a mixed picture.
- Direction: Indra Kumar keeps the storytelling simple but follows an overused formula.
- Screenplay: The biggest weakness with several scenes feel unnecessarily long.
- Dialogues: Only a handful leave an impact. Most jokes miss the punch.
- Music: Chatni, Gulabi Saree, Paisa lao are all remakes, and Qeher, the good one, is pushed towards the end of the film
- Cinematography: The island backdrop and adventure sequences look appealing.
- Visual Effects: CGI works in a few moments but looks artificial in many important scenes, especially considering the film’s reported scale.
The emotional ending attempts to leave a positive message about greed and relationships, but it arrives after an uneven journey that struggles to maintain consistent entertainment.

Dhamaal 4 Audience Review, Box Office & Final Verdict
The Dhamaal 4 audience review has been divided since its release. Families and longtime franchise followers may enjoy a few light-hearted moments, while viewers expecting fresh comedy could walk away disappointed. The first half offers occasional laughs through Arshad Warsi, Jaaved Jaaferi and Sanjay Mishra, but the second half struggles because the humour becomes repetitive and predictable.
The Dhamaal 4 release date was 10 July 2026, after multiple schedule changes to avoid box-office clashes. According to the available figures, the Box office collection of Dhamaal 4 started with an opening day collection of around ₹13.53 crore domestically. Weekend growth will depend largely on family audiences and word of mouth.
